From the Sources we climb along the ridge back towards Sarajevo with a great view of Bjelasnica, Treskavica, and the foothills of Nahorevo. The ridge bends around towards Bukovik and Mocioci and we'll have plush views of beautiful rolling hills and thick pine forests below Eagles Peak (Orlovac). After a break we'll trek up to Bukovik. This part of the walk is so silent, so peaceful. From Bukovik's peak at 1,532m. we view for the first time the endless open countryside behind Sarajevo. We descend down via an ancient medieval Bogumil graveyard through Mocioci an abandoned mountain village tucked neatly at the foot of the mountain. Here we have our lunch before we set off through thick pine wood forests down to Borovac a low plateau with numerous wild flowers and yet another great view of Sarajevo. After a short rest we descend down into the village of Nahorevo back to our vehicle.... tired yet refreshed. The trail is well marked and takes us up and down via numerous sources, meadows and hidden valleys. This area is (y)our backyard a truly beautiful place. The hike is strenuous and will take us a good 5 hours. It is a well-balanced hike though with not many steep, but long inclines. You'll love it, we do! Email us

The Neretva river is the emerald of Herzegovina flowing over 100 kilometers from its source into the Adriatic sea. In the upper canyon, where our partners operate, are some of the most exciting rafting in Europe.

We have just made it even more exciting, by rafting her at night. We will be gliding through the canyon with our head torches on in what will be a safe, exciting and adrenaline and moon light filled night . Our skilled skippers, with help of the rest of us will steer us gracefully through the numerous fast rapids. Having arrived deep in the canyon we pause, listen, strain our eyes to get a glimpse of the various animals coming down to the water. Under a clear sky and almost full moon we settle down for a great bonfire and traditional Bosnian BBQ. Laughter, conversation, and songs will grace the night while we drift deep into the night and early morning. At around 4:30 we set off again in our rafts, but this time the sky slowly lights up the canyon walls and its harsh contours, announcing the next day. Tired, but elated we arrive back in Konjic for coffee and breakfast, before setting off for home. This trip is for the adventurous among you, looking for an experience you can't easily find in day to day life. Email us

After an hour and a half drive through Bjelasnica's hinterlands we arrive in Lukomir, Bosnia's highest village at 1,469 meters, with its ancient stecci (medieval tombstones) where villagers stick to the "old way" of doing things. Traditional dress, the occasional turban and fez are still worn and go hand in hand with the more contemporary bliss' of everyday life, electricity and running water. On the edge of the village you will be treated by a rare view of Rakitnica, Obalj and Visocica. You have arrived at the end of the world.

Our hosts have kindly agreed to show us around the village. A truly unique opportunity to find out firsthand from the villagers how they live in this beautiful but difficult environment. After a short walk through the village, we hike along Obalj's side to the 40 meter Peruce Waterfall. All along, you will be treated by sweet views and cool breezes coming off of Visocica and Treskavica. After cooling ourselves off at Peruce we return to Gornji (upper) Lukomir (FYI there is also a Donji (lower) Lukomir, long since abandoned by villagers due to the destructive effects of avalanches in this region) for a traditional homemade lunch prepared by our hosts. At the end off the day you will also be presented with an opportunity to admire and or purchase local handicraft.

So join us if you want to see how it was and if you want to understand a bit more about the "harsh" realities of living in a Bosnian mountain village cut off from the outside world during the winter months.

We also organize a 7 hour circular hike around Lukomir for those of you interested in seeing several villages and the Rakitnica canyon. Contact us for more information. Email us

After a little more than an hours ride from Sarajevo we'll pass through the colorful outskirts of the ancient village of Kraljeva Sutjeska. Rich in natural wonders, such as the deep riverbed of Bukovica, Bobovac has long been a natuarl oasis which still retains its untainted and pure mysticism. We'll begin our trek from the ancient village of Kraljeva Sutjeskahome of the centuries old Franciscan Monastery, Sveti Ivo (Saint John's). We'll follow the picturesque valley of Bukovica Stream, where the ancient beechwood forest will cool our walk with its soothing shadows. Deeper into the valley we'll gently ascend on a well maintained trail to the steep ridge to reach the ruins of the 14th century citadel "Bobovac", the last residence of the Bosnian kings Tvrtko II and Tomas. We'll pay a visit to the remains of the ancient fortress situated on a steep limestone rock. This would be our lunch spothigh in the hills and well protected.

We'll return from the way we came and veering off in the village we'll take a short walk to the Franciscan Monastery that served this area in the middle ages, well before the Ottoman's conquered this region. It's a cultural heritage site of Bosnia and Herzegovina and we've put in a special request to open the doors for you on this afternoon. So don't miss this one.

This is the magical canyon walk along the Neretva river and into the rugged Rakitnica canyon. Well begin the fun not far from Boracko Lake in the Konjic area. We must (I stress must) cross a suspension bridge that usually gets the blood pumping good and early. Weve crossed it dozens of times so no worries. After the Indiana Jones crossing we head into Kasici village located on the hilly ridge above the Neretva. At the graveyard well head downward to the Neretva and meet the Emerald of Herzegovina. Here she runs wild with no dams to slow her pace. Well follow her gushing waters one kilometer to the mouth of the Rakitnica Canyon. Bosnia and Herzegovinas most unexplored canyon. Well cross another bridge at the mouth and rest on one of the numerous beaches or in case of bad weather in one of the caves above this beautiful meeting point.
In view will be Prenj and Crnja Mountains. We head back via the higher ridge that will offer us fantastic views of the Neretva below and the protective ridge around Ostro in the Canyon of Rakitnica. Its a magical trip and not too difficult at all. Its a mid range Green Walk that will feed your soul the great taste of nature. Email us
